Running Red Box
Everything a server admin can change, and how to keep a Red Box server healthy. Every setting here is per server: nothing you change affects any other server.
Who can change things
Anyone with Manage Server, and anyone with one of the server's admin roles, can run /setup and every admin command below. Game moderators (mod roles) can start the fun events, like loot drops and giveaways, without full admin access. Set both with /roles or in /setup; only the server owner or someone with Manage Server can change who has them.
Admin tools never give anyone an advantage, the server owner included: events have cooldowns, amounts are set by the game, and whoever starts an event can't claim from it. The Red Box team releases update packs for every server at once; admins can't release or hold back a pack, but they can switch features off for their own server.
Channels
- Game channels: where members play.
/setupcan build a 🟥 RED BOX category with a Starter or Full set, tied to update packs: re-running it adds channels for packs that came out since. - Where Red Box works:
/channel allowand/channel block(orr/allowhereandr/blockhere) choose where commands work, so the rest of your server stays quiet. Help and setup work everywhere. - Casino, exchange and marketplace channels:
/channel casino,/channel exchangeand/channel marketkeep those games in their own channels once you set them. - See it all:
/channel list(orr/channels). - Announcements: PvP open and close, season countdowns and patch notes (
/channel announcements). - Events: loot drops, gang takeovers and street incidents can go to their own channel (
/channel events).
Prefix
Every server has r/, plus a second prefix that starts as r1. /prefix changes the second one to r plus anything you like, so it doesn't clash with other bots.
Pausing Red Box
/pause pauses the game in your server, with an optional note for players; /pause resume turns it back on. Setup, help, roles, channels and feedback still work while it's paused, and automatic events stop.
PvP hours and time zone
Attacks, robberies and duels can close at night: closed 12am–9am, closed 11pm–7am, closed 1am–8am, closed 2am–10am, always open (no night break). Hustles, boxes, the shop and the casino stay open. The time zone also decides when the monthly season wipe happens. Players get reminders before PvP closes.
Feature switches
Switch off side systems you don't want. The core game (boxes, hustles, robbing, attacking, healing, the shop, bank, safes) always stays on, so nothing here breaks or unbalances it.
| Feature | What switching it off removes |
|---|---|
| 🎰 Gambling (casino) | Coinflip, slots, roulette, blackjack, cee-lo and the jackpot lottery |
| 💊 Drugs | Pills, lean, THC and the sell-work hustle (the lick stays); they stop dropping from boxes |
| 🍸 Alcohol | Drinks, the Liquor Store and Happy Hour; they stop dropping from boxes |
| 🚬 Smokes & vapes | Cigarettes, cigars, nicotine pouches and vapes; they stop dropping from boxes |
| 🚚 Town events | Loot drops, gang takeovers, street incidents, bar fights and world events |
| 🥇 Gold & silver exchange | Investing in metals with live prices |
| 🏷️ Garage sales | Players selling items at their own prices |
| 🤝 Trading | Item swaps between players (/pay still works) |
| 🤺 Duels | 1v1 fights with optional cash wagers |
| 🧹 Monthly season wipes | Off: progress never resets |
Alt protection
Stops people farming free claims on extra accounts and funnelling them to a main.
| Level | What it does |
|---|---|
| Off | Anyone can play and trade right away |
| Standard | Discord account 30+ days old to play · no transfers in a player's first 3 days |
| Strict | Discord account 90+ days old to play · no transfers in a player's first 7 days |
For the strongest protection, also set Discord's own verification level to Highest (Server Settings → Safety Setup), which asks new members to verify a phone number.

Seasons
Every server's season resets at midnight on the 1st, in its own time zone. Cash, bank, items, gear and cooldowns reset; lifetime stats and life counts stay. The 3 richest players earn a permanent prestige star, and the season's numbers are archived for /seasonstats. A backup of your server's save is taken before every wipe.
Keeping it healthy
- Real-money trading: in-game cash and items have no real-world value, and selling them for money breaks the terms. Remove players who do it.
- Exploits: ask players to report bugs with
/feedbackinstead of using them. - Alts: use alt protection, and a higher Discord verification level.
- Spam: keep game commands in their own channels with "Where Red Box works".
Your data
Red Box stores your server's game progress and settings in its own save file. If you remove the bot, the save is kept for a while in case you add it back. To have it deleted, email info@1300studios.com. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
