Setup guide

Set up Red Box

About five minutes, start to finish. You need the Manage Server permission in your server.

1. Get access

Red Box is in a closed beta: approved servers play free, and any server can buy a plan.

2. Add the bot

Open your invite link, pick your server and press Authorize. Keep every permission ticked: the bot needs them to post its messages, show item icons and animations, and build its own channels during setup.

If the bot joins and leaves right away, that server isn't approved or paid yet. Use the same server you applied with or entered at checkout.

3. Run /setup

The bot posts a welcome with a Start setup button. Press it, or type /setup. Only people with Manage Server can use it. It walks you through:

  1. Welcome and permissions: it checks it has what it needs and tells you what's missing.
  2. Channels: build a 🟥 RED BOX category for you (a Starter or Full set of channels), or use channels you already have.
  3. Announcements and events: where PvP notices, season countdowns, patch notes and town events go.
  4. Where Red Box works: keep commands in its own channels, or allow them everywhere.
  5. PvP hours: closed 12am–9am, closed 11pm–7am, closed 1am–8am, closed 2am–10am, always open (no night break), plus your server's time zone.
  6. Features: switch off anything you don't want: gambling (casino), drugs, alcohol, smokes & vapes, town events, gold & silver exchange, garage sales, trading, duels, monthly season wipes.
  7. Alt protection: Off: Anyone can play and trade right away; Standard: Discord account 30+ days old to play · no transfers in a player's first 3 days; Strict: Discord account 90+ days old to play · no transfers in a player's first 7 days.

Re-run /setup any time to change something. It opens on a summary with a button for each step.

4. Tell your members

Post the how-to-play message from /setup and pin it. Members type r/start to join and r/tutorial for a one-minute tour.
